Abstract

This research is meant to know the influence of parent role in children early education (CEE) for children development. The resarch is correlational study. The research subjects are 100 parents having child under five and participating in children early education (PAUD) in Yogyakarta Special Territory. Data are gathered through sended questionaires, interview, and observation. Data are analyzed through quantitive-descriptive and intepretative mixed method. The result finds that there is an influence CEE actvities on children development, tahat can be seen from the effectiveness contribution of the variable (Parents in CEE) on variable (Children Development), as big as 11,945 per cent, that means there are still other variables (88,055 per cent) enfluence children development. The influence can be seen from relative contribution of each variable, namely the parent commitment to give children early education (84,460 per cent), parents perception on children activities in CEE (10,035 per cent) and parents perception on CEE educators and guidance (5,506 per cent). Refer to the result above, it is recommended that the Ministry of Social Affairs through Children Welfare Directory, should hold some program that invite children underfive and parent as family (like parenting), so children are away from any handycap and develop optimally.

Abstract

On behalf of healthy life, every human being should fulfill their basic need. One among basic needs is food in order to gain energy to do daily activities, which based on sufficient nutrition standard. Every one needs at least 2.150 kilo caloryper day. Beneficiaries in Social Home Services are also need energy, so the management of those Social Home Services should have compulsary to fulfill the beneficiaries need. Meanwhile, the govermnet have decided a certain policy in terms of oil price. The decision impacted on market rate of food price. Ministry of Social Affairs as top manager of social services should reponsible to secure the beneficiaries of social home services. Hence, the Ministry should decide a new policy in terms of securing social services. It will take in to account of main indicator of social services for the beneficiaries in social institutions.

Abstract

Bedah Kampung Program is an integrated poverty reduction efforts including behaviour change, improvement of social relations, meeting the needs of the home and the environment, as well as increasing economic status of the poor.The research question is how the policy of the Ministry of Social Affairs in Bedah Kampung Program goes? The research goal is to understand and describe Bedah Kampung Program Policy and factors that affect the implementation. The method used in this research is comparative analysis of social reality betwen empiric conditions with ideal as guidelined by BedahKampung Program in 2012. Sources of data obtained from stakeholders or the implementors of the Ministry of Social AffairsProgram, local social agents, elements of such a companion, community leaders, and beneficiaries. Research sites in Pandeglang (Banten) and Magelang (Central Java). The results show that Bedah Kampung Program began in 2012. The program actually has been around since the 1970s, the last program was called Social Rehabilitation Program, began in 2006. Home improvement terget was 15,000 housing units and enviromental facilities. Until 2011 had been repaired 3,043 houses and 25 environmental facilities. In 2012, already covered 24 regencies/municipalities of 2,140 housing units and 50 environmental facilities. So far, the program has been perceived benefits because it is supported with funds from the state budget, local budget, people who care, and the participation of community in the form of mutual aid and cooperation. The local government’s commitment then began to appear in to support the Ministry of Social Affairs program, although only a few local governments that expressed willingness. Bedah Kampung Program, in addition, still only touch physical aspects not yet that of the economic aspect. Therefore, it is recommended that next program will be continued with productive economic empowerment, improvement of infrastructure and the environment, as well as integration supported by institutional regulations regencies/municipalities and communities.

Abstract

This research is done to know community empowerment process, supporting and handicap factors, a micro scale credit on enhancing community welfare, done by Micro Finance Institution (LKM) Baitul Mal Wa’tamil. The research location is  ditermined purposively, in Sukajaya Village, Cadasari Underdistrict, Pandeglang Regency. The research type is qualitative-descriptive with participative approach. Research subjects are LKM care takers and beneficiaries, an escort, four advisors from related institution, and group coordinator. Data are gathered trough interview, observation, focus group discussion, and documentary analysis techniques, and analyzed through qualitative-descriptive technique. The researchfinding shows that community empowerment is implemented on the right target, through preparation and implementation as agreed. Community empowerment of he beneficiaries seen in the increment of income through business group (Kube) and productive-economy activities (UEP). The supporting factor are the spirit, dicipline, and motivation of the beneficiaries to enhance family economy. The handicap factor is there has not been yet a venture with finance institution, sort of banking in capitalization. It is recommended that the Ministry of Social Affairs, through General Directory of Social Assistance, implement empowerment program for micro scale business and revitalize local non-government organization (LSM) as an escort and a spear tip of poverty solution.

Abstract

Drug abuse is an indication of someone with weak logic so that they are influenced by addictive substance and not aware its impact so far. If it is analogicalized, drug abuses are like ice berg phenomenon, quantitatively seen small form the top but many unseen at the bottom. Drug abuses qualitatively spikes, abused by all levels in society no matter its status. Men and women from childhood, youth, come of age, and aged. From the haves and haves-not, form rural till urban, from formal figures to labours. This research is to identify the main reason of abusing drugs, the kind of drug and its fruquency they use in a month, and its places where they do it. The method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative with 15 people as respondents, ex-abusers. The result shows that the ex-abusers abusing drugs because of external factors, friends influence, to be acknowledged by their group (Peer Group), and are not able to ward off group persuasion to use drugs as manifestation of comformity and solidarity. The consume mostly mariyuana, extacy, and heroin. They get firstly and mostly from friends (Peer Group) for free, then buy from friends, and through mediation. They mostly use with hypodermic needle (IDU), in boarding room, amusement centers sort of cafe, night club, and karaoke as balmy and peaceful places to consume drugs. It is recommeded that drug abuse prevention program should be intensified through anticipation, prevention (P4GN), and manifested through socialization, diffusive information, and rehabilitation to regeneration in family, academic environment, education, governmental agency, politician, entrepreneur, privat sector, law institution, and social worker to do real step to build community awarmeness of living healthily and free from drugs.

Abstract

As natural process which its intensity is more than normal, Merapi eruption disaster in Magelang Regency brings human victims, injuries, loss properties, social infrastructure, societal economic hinges, and refugees eruption impact. This research is done to describe double miseries and its social service needs of Merapi post eruption victims. This research uses survey method and implemented through qualitative-descriptive technique. The result shows that total human victims caused by Merapi post-eruption are 5006 people (1.891 family unit). They flee to five under districts and stay at emergency shelters. The disaster ruins 442 houses and 20.712 hectares of land. The victims suffer double miseries, form the eruption and post eruption impacts. The need for victims social services are medicines, health service, rehabilitation devices forbuildings, irrigation, forestry, communication, transportation, and land ownership management. It is recommended that local government, including lower level governmental management (desa, RW, RT) enable to mediate the distribution of aid and assistance because those institutions are the ones who know the local problem, condition, and needs of its environment.

Abstract

This research is to describe social welfare condition of aged after receiving social assistance seen from social, economic, psychic, and phycical health. Data are gathered throuh interview, focus group discussion, and observation. The main informants are ditermined purposively, ageds recieved assistance and their family who care. Data are analysed through qualitative-descriptive technique. The result shows that the social assistance for neglected aged (ASLUT) brings positive impact on aged social welfare, even on some aged the assistance enable to enhance their social welfare. Aged physical condition who receive social assistance are better because they take medication routinely, able to access health service, and fulfill their food needs. Aged psychological condition receiving assistance are more comfortable and stabil, not anymore worry about their needs, feel needed, able to help family even a little, such as to give sweets money their grandchlidren. Aged social relation with family environment are more harmony, indicated by the increase of family, son and daughter, and neighbours visits, coincide with the fulfilment of their needs and the reduction of physchological burden of their daughter and son, closed family, and neighbours with aged.

Abstract

This research is related to the impact of minimarket toward future existence of small vendors, is done to describe small vendors welfare living around minimarket. Respondents in this research are small vendors selling their commodities around minimarkets. Data are gathered through interview, observasion, and documentary analysis, and analysed through qualitatif descriptive technique. The result shows that small vendors having various degree of welfare, depending on the commodities they sell vendors experience a reduce in their clients since there is minimarket, even they are almost bankkrupt for their low ability to compete with minimarket, but small vendors that sell food and drink nearby minimarket feel profitable. It can be concluded that some small vendors feel negative effect nad some feel positive effect with the existenceof minimarket nearby them. It depends on the commodities they sell vendors feel negative because the commodities they sell can be found in minimarket, while food and drink vendors having positive chance bcause the commodites can not be found in minimarket.
